China

Shanghai's dualistic character is a fact. On the one hand, it is a metropolis and the number-one commercial centre of China. On the other hand, you can still trace historical links and aspects of traditional living. Walk along the Huangpu river and breathe in the 'Bund's' atmosphere, the old street where old and new gather. South of the Bund, you will find the Old Chinese City, the heart of modern Shanghai. Dazzling streets, loads of tiny restaurants, street markets, gardens and parks, temples, memorial sites and museums.... Don't even think that you can do Shanghai in one simple day.
